One Hour with You

Film: One Hour with You
Year: 1932
Time: 80min
Rating: 7.4/10

Starts with a cop arresting a couple who kisses in the park believing they are not married - because if they are, are the only ... Continues with a song to the magic of an alliance can: permission to make love all the time. Coninua with the best friend of the woman trying to seduce her husband's friend. And he gives, after resisting. It is the woman who pushes own, without knowing. Her husband's friend, nor cares if this is proof of divorce. "One time you" do not have some modesty.

We also do not have jokes in bad taste, it's all subtle, packed with songs, with lace cuffs long white dresses, created in uniform, very tall doors, the great world out of the 20s and has not yet shown the economic crisis that swept everything - even a civilization.

And it is a film that, like the best art, it brings learning or fighting, just sublimations, expressions of life, pleasure for the senses and the intellect. Infinitely futile, is a musical comedy about inevitalidade and refinements of adultery, made in a time before the entry into force of the Hays code, when the moral freedoms were unlimited in American cinema.

But it is not by showing that this movie is libertine, is the ease with which designs social convictions, a willingness to transgress the possible and the impunity of the conveniences that exceed. All done with supreme elegance, which Lubritsch - and only Lubritsch - knew. It is said that at his funeral (he died young, aged 55, in 1947), Billy Wilder and William Wyler were together at the end of the ceremony. Wilder sighed: "I will no longer Lubritsch." Wyler added: "Worse than that, we no longer have Lubritsch movies."

Personal comment:

Of course his other works are towering more than this, we must see them all, or discuss! But to me, "One Hour with You" is the ultimate expression of that dirt wash eyes the images that are out there, what makes the distinction sublime.

Treasure Planet

Film: Treasure Planet
Year: 2002
Time: 95min
Rating: 6.8/10

The Disney animated version of "Treasure Island."
I love this movie! Like so many other Disney movies.

The design was budgeted at $ 140 million, but grossed in North American box office just over 35 million. Thanks to the performance, Disney is considering establishing a ceiling of 80 million per production, the cost of Lilo & Stitch (Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, 2002). And the division chief, Thomas Schumacher, thinks of resigning from office.

The movie starts right up with the young Jim Hawkins (voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) making several risky maneuvers on his surfboard flying over an area prohibited to be picked up by the police and be taken back to the inn where he lives with his mother . During these maneuvers the character manages to captivate audiences, as well as scenes are fast and able to entertain most, but then got in a sea of sameness that has been viewed and reviewed by several films, only now in design. When one o'clock ET falls near his home with a map that apparently leads to hidden Treasure Planet, which seems to be the solution to all financial problems of Jim and his mother, the adventure begins.

The plot is based on the classic Treasure Island, which Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) wrote in 1883 and which resulted in his own Disney movie with real actors, in 1950. Adaptation of 2002, however, part of an interesting premise: the old boats now sail-powered laser through outer space, aliens of various types and formats listed as pirates and even the traditional kite became a nice bubble mutant.

Personal comment:

I think it's a good movie for children and adolescents. Portrays a young rebel without goals in life and with nothing to offer. But how has that passion since childhood mentor and ends up becoming a hero! 6/10 is more than deserved.

Taken 2

Film: Taken 2
Year: 2012
Time: 91 min
Rating: 6.9/10

Last week I felt like going to the movies. In Portugal (the country where I live) was the movie list movie Taken 2. As already seen the first, I was curious so I chose this.

The film has the same concept as the first. It's Bryan Mills with his whole style to try to save someone. And this time was not the daughter, who was the ex-wife has been kidnapped.
He had a work to do in Istanbul and daughter and ex-wife make it a surprise and will spend a mini vacation with him. The problem is that in the first movie he killed many people get to save his daughter, now a teenager, and the family of these people want revenge. With that, the woman is kidnapped along with Bryan and daughter managed to escape. And thank goodness! Why is she who ends up helping his father (who was also kidnapped) to save everyone.

With a mini phone, contact Bryan's daughter and escapes.

Regarding the space, the images are fantastic. Portrays the life in Istanbul, all those tiny streets, houses on top of houses, each hole goes for any business with all the shops open. As people become indifferent to the problems in the street.

Personal comment:

I found the movie quite good but for me, the first is better. As actors are practically the same can not do a review of the different I did when I posted about the first film. As for the score, give a 7.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Film: The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers
Year: 2001
Time: 179min
Rating: 8.7/10

First movie :: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

Better than the first movie, director Peter Jackson and the actors are already looser in the film, trying to do more than was in the book by JRR Tolkien, several scenes were placed, although not in the book, and several parts of the book were taken weft, which has three hours.

For fans of Tolkien faithful to the book, maybe they will find the infinitely superior first film, the fact that he will strictly followed the book, unlike what we see in this.

The fact that the inclusion of new ideas and scenes for the movie is better, after all, this is an adaptation of the book, and several parts of the book can not work in the film, thus making these new scenes covering some defects of adaptation. And let's say in passing: Peter Jackson knows what he does. He managed to attract the attention of not only fans, but also people who had never read the book, and neither party did not disappoint, making a faithful adaptation and very good at the same time, something very hard to find in adaptations of works materials as 'The Lord of the Rings'.

Here, the fragmentation into three cores (Frodo / Sam / Gollum - Merry / Pippin / Ents - Aragorn / Legolas / Gimli) provides a spectacle that enchants the eyes of truth, the climax of the film divided into three simultaneous battles, but it takes some tension found in the Company. Lacking a little of that tension in the core of the second movie.

In part, the feeling is that the flashback involving Arwen (Liv Tyler) and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) is an excess expendable. Jackson's explanation for the entry of the Elves in the war could summarize the participation of Galadriel. Moreover, the extract from Lady of Lothlorien, as a kind of impartial narrator who puts order in the plot, comes at a time suited the film.

The battle in which 10 000 orcs 300 men fight leaves everyone jaw fallen, showing that the special effects are perfect, and can hold your attention. The entire movie is the climax of the story, after all, the whole movie is just the middle of a charming and timeless story about a group who must destroy a ring that can end the world in which they live. The first part introduced us to the world of these characters, and this second part dispenses such introductions, taking us directly to the story. And now the third part will take us to the end of the most anticipated movies.

Peter Jackson has managed to create a masterpiece in which you believe to be in another world, so much perfection that is the middle ground, it uses special effects and revolutionaries is looser in this plot, in which you do not even notice who was sitting in the armchair for three hours, when the movie ends.

Secret Window

Film: Secret Window
Year: 2004
Time: 96min
Rating: 6.5/10

Today will be the day to post about the brilliant actor Johnny Depp. And here's a movie with a few years but I particularly liked. Secret Window ...

"Secret Window" has an interesting plot.
One of the biggest fears is that a writer's block. Imagine what it is to sit in front of a typewriter (or computer) and can not enjoy anything that comes out of his fingertips, or, what may be even worse, do not leave anything.

Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) is a writer in crisis, who has just separated from his wife (Maria Bello) after he caught her with another man. Mort decides to isolate themselves in a cabin by the lake Tashmore in search of tranquility. But there appears John Shooter (John Turturro), who begins to harass you then accusing him of plagiarism.

Ever heard of a split personality? See this movie and be surprised;)

Personal comment:

Who has the habit of watching thriller movies soon deduces the fifteen first few minutes as the film develops. While not bad, for a lie so banal and primary structure, "Secret Window" cause some discomfort. One would expect more for a story so unusual.
The way the script handles the psyche of the protagonist, as monologues, with flashbacks, with his imagination, is a plus, but the solution given is pathetic and only the most surprising unwary.
Average! Daria 7/10 in Imdb.

The Rum Diary

Film: The Rum Diary
Year: 2011
Time: 120min
Rating: 6.3/10

A film by Bruce Robinson, this is a film comedy / Triller whose main actor Johnny Depp.
This actor represents the role Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) who, tired of New York, leaves everything behind and accept the offer of Lotterman (Richard Jenkins) to the office of a newspaper reporter in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Satisfied with this new way of life, quickly feel "at home" by adopting a bohemian style, washed down with rum and some drugs. Things get complicated when he becomes emotionally involved with Chenault (Amber Heard), a beautiful fiancee of Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart), one of the most powerful and corrupt citizens of the city.

As a subplot that revolves around Kemp's passion for the beautiful Chenault (Amber Heard) at one point dominates the film, this ideal location - deliver sweet blonde villain bureaucratic and give her a love to match his joy of life - radiates throughout the relationship that Kemp has with Puerto Rico and its people (also exotic and vivid, with their cockfights, its carnival and its sorceries). But that relationship only goes so far. Diary ... is more a film about the sudden discovery of other than on the discovery of a possible influence that this may have on another.
When your boss asks you a laudatory article on the last business Sanderson comes the dilemma: do what you ask or take the opportunity to reveal that huge web of corruption.

It is based on the homonymous novel written by the American journalist Hunter S. Thompson when he was only 22 years old.

Personal Comment:

What Robinson's film is most interesting, therefore, is one of the exact moments in which we can see the genesis of gonzo: when Kemp (after drinking the whole movie, which favors) experiences acid and, under the influence of piscotropic, "change" literally the reality around them. Fear and Loathing takes this to the extreme, is the order of the physical world changed completely on the trip - and individual transferable - LSD. On The Rum Diary, this transformation of the surroundings is more subtle but no less definite and defining.
