Source Code

Well, come to an end and another month full of great movies. And to finish it well, I leave you another proposal from a great movie I saw some time ago: Source code.

Film: Souce Code
Year: 2011
Time: 93min
Rating: 7.5/10

It is a film that proves that there is still originality in cinema. Source Code can engage any viewer from the beginning to the end, and that's what makes it special, not to mention that the film is played by Jake Gyllenhaal great, well accompanied by Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga.

The story of "Source Code" focuses on Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal), a soldier in the U.S. army who wakes up disorientated inside a train in a body that does not belong, however, while trying to understand what it is happen, the train explodes. After the explosion, Colter wakes up in the body and is informed by a woman, Colleen Goodwin (Vera Farmiga), he is unwittingly involved in a secret mission to evolve the "Source Code," a machine that allows you to transfer the mind of an individual to the body of another individual in his last eight minutes of life. Goodwin explains that he has to use those eight minutes to identify the bomber who blew up the train, thus preventing another attack, however, this mission will not be easy because apart from having to deal with a cunning terrorist, he also have to deal with Christina Warren (Michelle Monaghan), a woman who knows the train and who falls in love, even though it can not save.

Personal comment:

The idea of the film is brilliant because flees to what we are accustomed to find in movies.
Personally I really liked it despite being quite heavy and need a lot of our concentration. I think the IMDB score is assigned fairly well.

The Experiment

Film: The Experiment
Year: 2010
Time: 96min
Rating: 6.3/10

Here's a film that lets anyone thinking! With Adrien Brody (Travis in the movie) as the main actor he does not leave anyone disappointed with his performance. Film directed by Gregor Jordan has with other good actors like Forest Whitaker (Barrels), Cam Gigandet (Chase), etc..

It is a film that portrays well as the human mind can be easily manipulated, and how little things make all the difference. The human being is treated as a guinea pig.

Making a short summary about it, this is an experience that is (having assessed the physical and psychological level to pormonor) putting 26 people inside a prison completely closed for 14 days. Some do the police, other prisoners. These must be strictly follow a list of rules and abuse of them may lead to certain consequences.

The movie is funny because it shows how people radically change their attitude even becoming violent with the loss or gain power.

Personal comment:

Honestly I do not quite follow the IMDB score that is because in my opinion the film deserved much more than 6.3. I really liked and I advise everyone to see because anyone would be surprised to see how the human mind can be so fragile. My score for this film would be 7.5/10.

The Silence of the Lambs

Film: The Silence of the Lambs
Year: 1991
Time: 118min
Rating: 8.7/10

I must say that I was fascinated with this film. Just felt sorry for one thing: not having seen it sooner.
Inspired by actual cases of psychopathy, such as Ed Gein and Albert Fish, Hannibal Lecter (one of the most remarkable characters of all time) appeared in the literature for the first time in 1981, the novel "Red Dragon" by Tom Harris.

The film tells the story of a cop FBI trainee, Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster). She is one of the best in his field and is always featured in several segments of the organization.

Worthy of an Oscar, "The Silence of the Lambs" has many shocking scenes. You realize that this was the intention of the filmmaker Jonathan Demme. He wanted to shock, but not frustrate your viewers. In the scene where Dr. Lecter attacks a police officer, for example, is quite strong, but there is an enigma behind it, which would prove right after this attack cannibal. Simply amazing!

With a sensational script, a competent cast and great skill in driving the narrative, "The Silence of the Lambs" is established as an above average thriller, intense and electrifying. Additionally, introduced the world to one of the most iconic movie characters, the psychopathic brilliantly played by Anthony Hopkins, who inspired new movies and marked a whole generation.

Hopkins, when asked in an interview on FOX's Dr. Lecter never blink said: "The main thing is to be penetrating the Lecter ... he is penetrating ... he has a strong mind, he is evasive. In the interrogation scene with Clarice, the scene of his cell, he investigates and never lose control over it. Investigate all the time. Therefore it is pervasive. "

The Hurt Locker

Film: The Hurt Locker
Year: 2008
Time: 131min
Rating: 7.7/10

"The Hurt Locker" by Kathryn Bigelow, continues to add awards. This time it was the National Society of Film Critics awarded the U.S., thereby strengthening its position as a possible candidate for the Oscar nomination.

Is a film that bet unmask the psychological pressures of war, the soldiers whose membership is treated as a disease and not as patriotism. The filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow strives to create diverse situations of tension, never take a political decision on the Iraq war and is this impartiality that makes a movie that glorifies people and not war. This is the movie 'Jarhead' could not be.

Everything happens in a unit of mines and booby traps, monitoring the daily challenges of a miner addicted to disable the risks of (increasingly complex) improvised explosive devices that insurgents constantly grow in the streets of Baghdad, a "surge" in which each bomb neutralized opens the way for a more elaborate and demanding challenge. (There is actually something video-game here in the middle, but reading is a necessarily a posteriori - a film inspired and never got in a game the growing tension that builds Bigelow here with virtuosity.) But another faena that "State War "does explain that the bull is Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea, the Balkans, etc.., are different names for the same territory. The "where" loses its relevance. The only ideology is pragmatism. The wars are all the same, there are innocent and guilty, between dead and living one is it going to make it.

Personal comment:

It is the best war movie in many years. It is a trip by impressionist "dark side", an injection of adrenaline directly into the vein, a "walk on the wild side" to quote the song by Lou Reed. Because - unlike the recent wave of American films about Iraq and its aftermath, or much of the movie that was made about Vietnam, for very good some of them are - it's not a film that questions the reasons, motives, psychologies. "The Hurt Locker" apologizes for not looking at things from the front and take the bull by the horns: yes, war is hell (not a few scenes where the shock deaf death just next door slammer) but who is there in the middle is also an addiction, a necessity, a way of being alive.

American critics consider "State of War" movie of the year!

TED

Film: Ted
Year: 2012
Time: 106min
Rating: 7.6/l0

Ted is extremely hilarious! How could I not love a movie that came the idea of Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show. In his directorial debut, MacFarlane shows that his brand of humor translates well to the big screen.

It's Christmas and Little John has only one request to Santa Claus: that his teddy bear, Ted, come alive. The boy is surprised to realize that his request was granted and soon they become great friends. John and Ted grow together and teddy bear becomes quite grumpy with age. As an adult, John (Mark Wahlberg) must decide between keeping the childhood friendship or dating with Lori Collins (Mila Kunis).

Seth MacFarlane makes things even more outrageous, throwing a bunch of crazy ingredients in history, including a lecherous boss (McHale, Community) who will not stop hitting Lori, a hilarious fight scene with Ted as one of the combatants, a joke funny running on the actor Tom Skerritt (who also makes a cameo), John singing an awful version of the theme from Octopussy ("All Time High" by Rita Coolidge), and more.

Personal comment:

If you're a fan of Family Guy, do not waste time and run to theaters and die laughing with this comedy that promises to bring many laughs for the entire audience. If you do not like jokes heavier, or choose to watch another movie Madagascar quieter!

The Avengers

Title: The Avengers
Year: 2012
Time: 143min
Rating: 8.6/10

Although it has very little experience in film as a director, Joss Whedon knows very well how to work multiple players on the small screen.

Fortunately, the writer experienced proved to the challenge. Although it is somewhat aesthetically pasteurized (not differing from any other big-budget blockbuster of the last decade), The Avengers is perfect within their pretensions. It is, after all, a Marvel film - and as such, follows five decades (!) Tradition of the "House of Ideas." It is still, well, a modernized version of the first adventure of the Avengers, 1963: her, lone heroes come together - after a misunderstanding generated by the inevitable conflict of egos that came great beings - to face a common threat engendered by the handler , greedy and unscrupulous villain Loki.

In the plot, as shown in the post-credits scene of Thor, SHIELD began to experiment with the cosmic cube of Odin, which leads them to open a dimensional portal that allows the arrival of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to Earth. Once here, Thor's brother steals the cube to make their own experiences, aiming to bring an alien army on the planet. Thus, the director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) calls the inmate Bruce Banner / Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), billionaire Tony Stark / Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the newly thawed Steve Rogers / Captain America (Chris Evans) and demi-god Thor (Chris Hemsworth) - who returned to Earth to settle accounts with his brother - for, along with the agent Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), forming a super team, the only one capable plans to stop Loki.

Superman - The Movie

Title: Superman - The Movie
Year: 1978
Time: 143min
Rating: 7.3/10

Having premiered in theaters in 1978, Superman - The Movie is considered, even today, the final version of the character by most fans and the general public in general. After several releases on radio, television and cinema itself, was the film starring Christopher Reeve that shook the world with more strength, becoming a landmark in cinema history and the standard for comic book adaptations of superheroes. The promotional poster featured the iconic phrase "You will believe a man can fly." Nearly three decades later, there is no doubt that the goal was achieved.

Gene Hackmam is perfect as Luthor, the arch-enemy of Superman. Smart, funny, sarcastic, terribly evil and wicked, with refined touches of black humor. After Brando, his name is most prominent, is also used in marketing the film. At times his character seems exaggerated, but it is surrounded by an excellent work of the star, who won the Oscar for The French Connection. One of the big differences here is that your Luthor is not bald, where the character uses wigs. The star refused to shave the hair. Director Richard Donner cost make it shave his mustache.
Now it's time to talk about the real hero of this film, his name is Christopher Reeve. The star dressed with all his might the uniform of Kryptonian who can never get rid of it. Starred in four Superman films of the late '70s and throughout the 80s. His face became a hero. Superman was materialized by his physique. In this first movie is perfect with the uniform, and his best film in the Quadrilogy. Despite playing a very daring Clark, which was later repaired, shined with the blue uniform. It is impossible not to feel all the energy and excitement when he saves Lois from a helicopter accident.

Personal Comment:

Superman The Movie is all this and more. He caught the first time all the greatness of a hero of the comics. It is a beautiful film, to be felt with all his strength. The elements were brought together, the chemistry worked, and the film became a landmark and a huge success.

Green Lantern

Title: Green Lantern
Year: 2011
Time: 114min
Rating: 5.9/10

Of all the characters of the first echelon of DC Comics, Green Lantern is what the universe is more complex. The superhero, after all, works alongside other 3,600 peacekeepers in the galaxy, the Green Lantern Corps. The scope allows from social interactions in the Earth to space wars between thousands of fighters, divided into factions representing multicolored spectra chromatic and emotional.

If Green Lantern is not one of the most beloved heroes, like a Batman or Superman, it was necessary a good story to bring it to the general public, but that's not what happens. By following the letter of the primer to the genre cliches, director Martin Campbell missed the opportunity to take advantage of the different composition of the universe of your main character. From beginning to end, you can predict every line, every scene and every outcome, and even the interesting visual effects can draw attention in this context. What is really worth the curious casting of the cast and the meaning behind the super-powers of the hero and villain.

Personal comment:

Green Lantern is not only a new Fantastic Four, why half of the film worthwhile. Sorry I left the movie theater? Yes, but I admit that after the comments Yankees hoped for something much worse. I know this is a contradiction, but after watching I breathed sad and relieved at the same time. Only the main feeling that is is not none of these two, is hate! Yes, hate to imagine they could have done another Dark Knight and did not want.

The Incredible Hulk

Title: The Incredible Hulk
Year: 2008
Time: 112 min
Rating: 7.0/10

After the box office failure of "Hulk" Ang Lee in 2003, the publisher of Marvel comics learned a lesson: you do not want to see the Emerald Giant fans angry again. Here, then, that Marvel in its new phase as the production revives in bringing Louis Letterier for the new project, hopefully with the capable hands of director for action films (famously brainless).
Analyzing the final outcome of "The Incredible Hulk" in theaters has a story that does not create many new to the world of the protagonist, and it works as a product for nostalgic fans who clamored for a dress worthy of the comic to the anti hero. The direction and editing the film is quick and prioritize the various cuts of the action scenes, making the film a comic film.

Anyway, The Incredible Hulk is a good monthly comic book character. Remaining references to classic stories, the action is competent and the best: The Hulk is not alone. There is that sense of continuity, fantastic stuff, generated by references to other heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe. This idea started in Iron Man and depth here, will certainly be the great asset of the company at the movies.

Captain America: The First Avenger

Title: Captain America - The First Avenger
Year: 2011
Time: 124min
Rating: 6.8/10

World War 2. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is a young man who agreed to volunteer in a series of experiments aimed at creating the American supersoldier. The military can turn it into a human weapon, but soon realize that the supersoldier is too valuable to jeopardize the fight against the Nazis. Thus, Rogers is used as a celebrity host, with a presence in parades held throughout Europe in order to raise the esteem of the combatants. To do so is to use a dress in the colors of U.S. flag, blue, white and red. Only a Nazi plan makes Rogers into action and take the nickname Captain America, using their gifts to fight them in the trenches full of war.

Unfortunately, Captain America: The First Avenger, is an achievement less successful than their predecessors. Perhaps the very nature of the patriotic and propagandistic cartoon character, this is a silly movie, simplistic, lacking in irony distilled Iron Man (Iron Man, 2008), the internal conflicts seen in the protagonist of The Incredible Hulk (The Incredible Hulk, 2008) or semi-Shakespearean family relationship present in Thor (ibid., 2011). In fact, the adventure of Captain America seems sometimes a children's film, even a Disney production, where everything is black or white: the heroes are perfect and mighty and the villains are evil monsters with plans for world domination.
